MY PASSION:

Along with my husband, channeling our faith, expertise, and energy to strengthen marriages and families and training church and school leaders in how to minister in the aftermath of a critical incident.

PERSONAL:

Dr. Deborah Bauers is a freelance author, educator and Licensed Professional Counselor with over 30 years of experience in her field both as a clinician and a pastor’s wife.  Whether in the office or classroom, traveling to a speaking engagement or sitting on the playroom floor with her grandchildren, she enjoys diversity, stimulation and relationships.  Along with her husband, John, she channels her passion, faith, expertise and energy into Threefold Cord Ministries, a non-profit organization that exists to strengthen marriages and families and to train and mobilize church and school leaders in how to minister in the aftermath of a critical incident.

Deborah has been published in a number of mental health magazines and journals and is the author of “Three Questions to Heal a Marriage,” a workbook for couples desiring a Christian marriage. Deborah’s writing skills are diverse and include expertise in technical writing and white paper production, freelance journalism and works of fiction.  She is a recipient of the Pulitzer Citizen Journalism Award for her essay on Latin America’s views of US politics in light of the pervasive influence of Venezuela’s President, Hugo Chavez.

Deborah is a former writer for AllAboutLifeChallenges.com, an on-line search engine that provides information on a variety of mental health and relational issues while sowing the seeds of Christ’s love.  She has prior experience as a newspaper mental health columnist and is an adjunct Professor for The King’s University. She is a critical incident stress management specialist and has been present during two church shootings. She and her husband have appeared on live television and radio to share these live-changing events.

Jesus Christ became Deborah’s first love when she was only seven years of age. She and her husband of 43 years have three children and eight grandchildren. When Deborah is not seeing clients she is passionate about writing and teaching. At the end of the day, though, her greatest earthly joy is spending time with her family and playing with her grandchildren.
